Data Engineer

Description:

Vaco is partnering with a dynamic, PE-backed company within the manufacturing sector seeking a highly analytical and results-oriented Data Engineer to join their growing technology team. This individual will be instrumental in building and maintaining the data infrastructure, developing ETL pipelines, and ensuring data quality to support critical business intelligence and strategic decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in data warehousing, data modeling, and programming, along with the ability to translate business requirements into robust data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Infrastructure Development & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines and data warehouse solutions.
• ETL/ELT Processes: Develop and implement efficient ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various source systems into the data warehouse.
• Data Modeling & Architecture: Design and implement logical and physical data models optimized for performance and reporting needs.
• Data Quality & Governance: Implement and monitor data quality checks, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all data systems.
• BI & Analytics Support: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide data sets for reporting and analytical purposes.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and implement optimizations to improve data pipeline efficiency and query performance.
• Technology Evaluation & Adoption: Research and recommend new data technologies and tools to enhance the data infrastructure and capabilities.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models, and data processes.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a Data Engineer or similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or related industry.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Strong programming skills in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts (e.g., dimensional modeling, star schema).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and effective communication skills.
• Knowledge: Understanding of data governance principles, data security best practices, and data integration techniques.
